Tisch4You – Basel
designer furniture, various materials, online composition
Interview with Michael Schweingruber, Managing Director of Tisch4you
Michael, what are your requirements when you produce new furniture?
The entirety and the details – both are important to us. The unique piece. The ensemble. The series. The combinability. We never lose the overview. We always look for simplicity and strive for reduction. We value uniqueness and precision and attach great importance to simple beauty.
Quality is my top priority in the manufacturing process; our furniture is all made by carpenters with the help of various machines. Each of our pieces of furniture should be a masterpiece of craftsmanship, an original.
In all honesty: Why should costumers buy a piece of your furniture instead of going to a furniture discounter?
The piece of craftsmanship should fulfil numerous requirements. It must be practical and robust, should have a pretty design, as well as it should match other furniture. Do you know that problem? You have guests and the table is too short. Or: Your desk is too small for the new screen. You know exactly what you need and how much space you have available in your dining room or office. Make the most of the available space with a custom-made table. The best way to do this is with a piece of furniture that’s made-to-size.
If you have such a piece of furniture at home, you don’t want any other. Many customers confirm this to me. By the way: If you want to save the trip to the furniture store, you can easily configure and by your table online.
Where can costumers see your furniture live?
In our showroom in Münchenstein. You can touch, use and view our products from all sides while enjoying a good espresso, or simply let them have their effect on you in peace. We are looking forward to your visit, as the saying goes.
You are still part of the Szenobau team. What is behind this name?
The core business of Szenobau is the implementation of building plans. We are partners for the spatial installation and accompany interior designers from the very first draft. We are partners for ideas on material selection, design and functionality. We have already carried out numerous projects for museums, event locations, gastronomy, retail, living spaces, as well as exhibitions and showrooms.
What are your goals with tisch4you?
We at the carpenter’s workshop tisch4you have set ourselves the goal of producing high-quality furniture. Minimalist works of art, made for a long life. A table at which you can eat, work, sit together, ponder alone, read, talk, do handicrafts, relax. A table which fulfils its function as a table and does not show its first defects after a few weeks.
