With Café Vonlanthen, you have achieved something big in 2018. Why did you choose this location?
It is a great privilege that I could set up my small café in this house from 1470 with a view of the Rhine.
I like the location between the Schifflände and the St. Johann. It is not far from the university hospital but also on the walk of many pedestrians. For me it was clear: this is where I would like to open and run a small, but fine boutique café.
Café Vonlanthen also has a coffee mobile. What is it all about?
Last year, I fell in love with a completely restored Piaggio Ape. The former mail van is used by us to offer good coffee at company parties, celebrations, public fairs, and other occasions. This is uncomplicated and brings back memories of old times and holidays in Italy for many visitors.
How does Café Vonlanthen’s future look like?
I am currently involved in various projects and am constantly trying to develop myself and Café Vonlanthen further. As of yet, the coffee production and the sale of my coffee beans, the fairs, and of course always the Café near the Rhine in Basel are particularly close to my heart.
